NA-249 by-election, PPP took the field, unconfirmed and unofficial results surprised everyone


Karachi (News Plus Online) According to unofficial and unofficial results of all 273 polling stations in the NA-249 by-election, Qadir Khan Mandokhel of Pakistan Peoples Party has won the by-poll by getting 16,156 votes.

According to unconfirmed and unofficial results, Dr. Muftah Ismail of PML-N came second with 15,473 votes, Nazir Ahmed of banned Tehreek-e-Libek came third with 11,125 votes and Mustafa Kamal of Pak Sarzamin Party came second with 9,200 votes. Amjad Afridi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came fourth with 27 votes and fifth with 8,922 votes while Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM Pakistan) Hafiz Muhammad Mursalin came sixth with 7,511 votes.

With the victory of PPP candidate Qadir Khan Mandokhel, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari shared the message 'Thank you Karachi' with an arrow on social media, while PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz Sharif won the NA-249 Karachi seat. After the victory of the PPP candidate, he demanded from the Election Commission to withhold the results. He said that the victory was stolen from the PML-N by a few hundred votes. Even if he does not do so, this victory will be temporary and soon victory will come to the PML-N.

It may be recalled that the PPP has snatched the PTI seat by winning the by-election.

 The NA-249 seat was vacated by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Faisal Wawda had vacated the MNA seat after becoming a senator. He defeated PML-N president Mian Shahbaz Sharif by a narrow margin in the 2018 general elections.

Polling in the constituency continued from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm without any break. Violations of the Electoral Code of Conduct were also observed in some places in the constituency. Form 45 signed at the request of PSP leader Hassan Sabir was canceled. During the polling, the Election Commission ordered six PTI MLAs Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Raja Azhar, Saeed Afridi, Malik Shehzad Awan, Bilal Ghaffar, Shah Nawaz Jadoon, and Khel Das Kohistani of Oran League to leave the constituency.

In NA-249, 796 polling booths were set up for by-elections, CCTV cameras were installed in the most sensitive polling stations, Rangers and police personnel continued patrolling in the constituency. The total number of voters in the constituency is 339,591. Most of the candidates in the by-elections are not voters of NA-249, Muftah Ismail of PML-N, Amjad Afridi of PTI, and Mustafa Kamal of the Pak-Sar-e-Zamin party.
